Downtown Planter Program

Bastrop in Bloom is a Downtown beautification initiative of the Bastrop Main Street Program. The Main Street Advisory Board’s Design Committee spearheaded the placement of eleven planters along Main Street. The planters are self-watering which means each planter has a water reservoir where wicks self-regulate water delivery. The controlled release of water provides superior bottom feedings while eliminating root rot issues from over saturation.

To ensure the maintenance and beauty of the planters and plants, the Main Street Board partnered with us to select and maintain the plants. The plants are selected seasonally or on an as needed basis based on plant health. Our Master Gardener volunteers maintain the planters weekly by cleaning out trash or dead plants.

The addition of these planters to Downtown Bastrop provides a beautiful enhancement of greenery and color within our streetscape which is welcoming to both visitors and residents.
