Now that Coastal Oaks Demonstration Garden (COG), is open to the public at 892 Airport Rd, Rockport, TX. The Texas AgriLife Extension Service – Aransas County Office has converted part of the old Green Acres Demonstration Garden into a Community Vegetable Garden in conjunction with the “Healthy South Texas Initiative”. COMMUNITY GARDEN CLASSES
BEGIN THURSDAY, MARCH 1ST
Would you like to grow your own fresh vegetables but don’t have a space or don’t know how? Join us for a series of six free classes on gardening and vegetable preparation beginning March 1, 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at the Aransas County Library. Classes will be every Thursday through April 12, except April 6.
Everyone attending the classes will receive the use of a vegetable garden plot to grow their own vegetables. Everything is provided except the sweat! No experience is needed. It’s a great opportunity for beginners or more experienced gardeners to increase knowledge and meet others interested in gardening. The program is sponsored by the Aransas County office of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and is made possible in part by a grant from Growing and Nourishing Healthy Communities.
Call the Extension office at 790-0103, or come to the first class on March 1 at the Library.
