Anne Barr began her Master Gardener experience in 2007 in the Little River Basin
Master Gardener program in Milam County, Texas. In 2017 she received the
Outstanding Individual Master Gardener Award at the state conference for her years of
leadership and commitment.
Anne tackled any task that needed to be done. Her expertise in many areas made her
the “go to person.” Her media skills kept her busy as webmaster, camera person for
class presentations, and mentor to members on visual presentations. If something
needed to be built for a display, Anne built it. If a program needed to be presented,
Anne would volunteer. If a meeting place was needed, Anne would open her home with
her beautiful gardens as an inspiration. In addition to all of this, Anne would be working
along side of other members in our demonstration gardens and many other civic
projects.
Anne served on the Executive Board of the Little River Basin Master Gardener
Association for eight out of ten years. She served in several positions including
president. She supported the state association with attendance at the state
conferences. She served as a mentor to all of us and to the community.
Anne moved from our area, but she is remembered with great respect and love from our
members and from members of the community who gained gardening knowledge from
her. She epitomizes the spirit of the program.
