The Master Gardeners of Somervell County

are volunteers who work with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service to improve gardening skills throughout the community. Program objectives are implemented through the training of local volunteers known as Master Gardeners. We collaborate with AgriLife Extension to conduct youth and community education; establish and maintain demonstration gardens; and provide a speakers bureau. We work with special audiences in the community (4-H horticultural clubs, Junior Master Gardener groups, schools, and others) for youth and community outreach of a horticultural nature. We recruit and educate new Master Gardener candidates for effective volunteering.

“Fruits, Nuts, Berries and More”

Come attend the Somervell County Master Gardener’s fifth C.H.E.S. program and hear Larry D. Womack of Womack Nursery in DeLeon, Texas talk about fruits, nuts, berries and more.  Larry and his family have been in the horticultural nursery business for over 75 years and supply Texas and the nation with quality fruit and pecan trees grown on their property in DeLeon. So whether you have a commercial orchard or you are a back yard gardener, come hear what Larry has to say about these topics.

The program will be presented in the Citizens Center on Barnard Street in Glen Rose on Monday, May the 14th and will start at 6:30 p.m.  Attendance is free and open to the public.  Come join us in the fun and fellowship and listen to an expert on these topics.
