On Thursday April 18, 2013, the Tyler Day Nursery held its Storybook Dinner. The Smith County MGs received its Helping Hands Award. Susan Linnard and Joann Adair accepted the award for the MGs.
Awards luncheon held April 11, 2013

Kathy Moore was presented Lifetime Membership in the Smith Co. Master Gardener Association. Among Kathy’s accomplishments during the past 13 years included: Intern of the Year, Project of the Year 2002 – for Spring Home Garden Tour, Treasurer for 3 years, Heritage Garden co-chair for 2 years, Home Garden Tour co-chair for 3 years and thirteen years of service with a total of 1626 volunteer hours.

Wins Best Agriculture Program Award at Texas Event Summit
February 5, 2013; Tyler, Texas: The 97th East Texas State Fair received international recognition in Las Vegas during the annual conference of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, IAFE and local recognition at the Texas Events Summit for its educational program and marketing efforts.
The 97th East Texas State Fair brought home 2 awards after attending the Texas Events Summit convention held in San Antonio, a joint meeting of Texas Association of Fairs & Events and Texas Festivals & Events Association. The East Texas State Fair won first place for Best Agricultural Program for the exhibit AgriWorld. AgriWorld is an educational exhibit made up of 4 sections focusing on agriculture in our daily life: My Secret Garden-a tour of gardening lessons, rainwater harvesting and more: presented by East Texas Master Gardeners, Texas AgriLife Extension, City of Tyler Water Department and Texas Nursery and Landscape Association; Country Life-life on the farmer, a chicken hatchery and more: presented by Texas AgriLife Extension, Southwest Dairy Farmers Association, Troup FFA, Smith County 4-H and Extension Education Association; Wildlife Wonders-wildlife, camping and critical thinking activities and more: presented by Texas Master Naturalists and Ag in My Community-local growers, products and more: presented by East Texas Beekeepers, Texas AgriLife Extension, East Texas State Fair Farmer’s Market, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Careers in Ag-Martin’s Mill FFA. AgriWorld is sponsored by the Junior League of Tyler, Inc.
