The Jackson County Master Gardeners Association doesn’t just help out in the Extension office once in a while and meet once a month. We WORK to make Jackson County Texas beautiful!

Since our inception, we have completed several major projects and are working on yet another one. We are involved in every step, from planning to execution and everything in between!

We adopt projects that we work on as a group. Someone will have an idea and bring it to the membership where it will be discussed and voted on. Once we have agreed that we will take on this project, the Master Gardeners volunteer their time and expertise to get it done. Sometimes we have several projects going at once, so there is always something to do.

Usually, when we complete a project, we are finished, and we do not do maintenance on that project. The Nursing Homes, for instance, maintain the gardens that the Master Gardeners and the 4H put in for them.

Other projects that we complete we “own” and have committees who oversee the tasks necessary to keep the garden in good condition. All of our projects are educational. We learn things, share those things with others and are available to answer any questions about it.
