Grimes Co. Expo Center
In 2005 GCMG took part in a statewide rose test project to determine suitability for designation as EarthKind ® roses. Some roses passed the rigorous test criteria, others
didn’t make it and their places were filled with “known performers”. Our Master Gardener Volunteers continue to maintain these beds, as well as other plantings at the Expo Center.
Anderson Beautification
GCMG volunteers are working with the Mayor of Anderson and City Council to beautify the “down town” area leading up to the County Courthouse. Progress has been slow because of the need to involve the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot), but hopefully the installation of planters, watering systems, and the actual planting will begin in the next few months. Updates will be provided as they happen!
AgriLife Extension Office property
Grimes Extension Office recently moved to a property of several acres. This gives GCMG Volunteers an opportunity to develop demonstration and specialty gardens. Since the move, the County Agent has transferred to another area, so this project is on hold until a replacement arrives.
