Welcome to the CBMGA Butterfly-Pollinator Garden. The plants in this garden were selected because of their specific nature of being attractive to Butterflies and other pollinators. The Butterfly Garden initially held an Earthkind® Rose Trial. After the trial ended, the Master Gardeners converted the three beds used in the rose trial to contain plants that support a butterfly population. The slide show displays most of the plants we have in our butterfly garden. Below the slide show is a table of the plants that are in our Butterfly Garden with each linked to information about that plant. Our Butterfly Garden has been recognized as an official Monarch Way Station. And be sure and see the person (Bedhead) responsible for creating and maintaining this beautiful Butterfly Garden at the bottom of the page. Click Back to go back to previous page.

Our Butterfly Garden was created to not only attract butterflies but to provide an environment conducive to butterfly propagation. Repeat visitors will be treated to not only a myriad of plants and beautiful flowers but also the complete metamorphosis of butterflies from butterfly to egg to larva to chrysalis to butterfly.
A butterfly garden must contain two types of plants to attract and keep butterflies in the garden. Nectar plants are needed to attract and feed the butterflies, but also host plants must be part of any butterfly garden if you expect the butterflies to stay in your garden. Host plants are the plants on which butterflies lay their eggs and on which the larva or caterpillars feed once they hatch.
The Butterfly Garden consists of three beds that were originally constructed to hold an Earthkind® Rose Trial. After the trial was completed in 2016 the beds were converted to hold plants that attract all kinds of pollinators.
Our butterfly garden was created in March, 2017 and has been recognized as an official Monarch Way Station.

Regina |
The bed head for our Butterfly-Pollinator bed is Regina Clark. Regina joined CBMGA in 2015 receiving her certification in November of 2015. She found her calling when someone mentioned we we wanted to add a butterfly-pollinator bed to the Master Gardens. Regina’s passion for butterflies and the plants that sustain them is unparalleled. We certainly want to thank Regina and all of the other Master Gardeners who helped to make our butterfly Garden everything it is. | |
