Allium ‘Dready’ is a cultivar of Allium vineale, as is related cultivar ‘Hair’. ‘Dready’ refers to the masses of dreadlock-like curling tendrils in green-red, which grow out from mauve drumstick flower heads. These start off bright green, but over the course of a couple of weeks change to red. Allium ‘Dready’ works well when planted in drifts with ornamental grasses and other alliums. It makes a wonderful, dramatic cut flower. For best results, plant bulbs in fertile, well-drained soil up to three times their diameter. Grow in well-drained soil in full sun. |
